A solo exhibition of the work of digital media arts faculty member Joe Reinsel, will be held Monday, August 31, through Friday, October 9, in Gormley Gallery, Fourier Hall, College of Notre Dame of Maryland, 4701 North Charles Street in Baltimore.
Exhibit reception takes place Saturday, September 12, from 4 to 6 p.m.
The prints in this exhibit are the result of an experimental process combining Mr. Reinsel’s interest in sound and video.
“What you are seeing is sound. This series of prints was created by controlling video with sound,” Mr. Reinsel explains. “While artist in residence at the Experimental Television Center in Owego, N.Y., I experimented with ways of generating video with sound and recorded 5 hours videotape from this process. Then I used video editing software to cut 50 frames out of the tape. For the Gormley Gallery show, I chose 10 frames and these were then printed and hung in the gallery.
The exhibit has been partially funded by the Maryland State Arts Council, Mayor Sheila Dixon and the Baltimore Office of Promotion and The Arts.
